About the accommodation:
Robert Gabriel House has seven bedsits, each with cooking facilities, and a communal lounge.
Staff are on site 24-hours a day because many of the young people living here have never lived alone before, and need support in areas such as cooking, shopping, washing, cleaning, form filling and budgeting. Residents are expected to cook for themselves although staff are available for guidance.
Staff also provide emotional support and enable residents to access specialist support networks in the statutory and voluntary sector. And residents are encouraged to attend college and training to obtain qualifications, or to work during the day.
Young people can stay at Robert Gabriel House for up to two years although we hope they will have gained the skills to move on before this.
We don’t just provide somewhere safe to live. We aim to enable young people to take control of their own lives and move towards independent living.
